Sir Henry Parkes was a colonial Australian politician who was a leader in the movement for the federation of the Australian colonies and was instrumental in the formation of the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. He was Premier of New South Wales for seven terms and was also a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly and the Australian House of Representatives.
