Aleksandar Stamboliyski was a Bulgarian politician who was overthrown in a coup in 1923. He was the leader of the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union, which was the largest political party in Bulgaria at the time. Stamboliyski was a socialist and an advocate for land reform. He was also a strong supporter of the League of Nations.
