Sung Y. Kim was appointed Ambassador to Indonesia in 2020 by Donald Trump. He was previously the Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and Senior Director for East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the National Security Council. He has also served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and as the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy.
