Rituparno Ghosh was an Indian Bengali film director, screenwriter, and actor. He graduated from Jadavpur University with a degree in Economics. He began his career as a screenwriter, writing the screenplay for the film "Ghum Bhangar Gaan" (1992), directed by Gautam Ghose. His directorial debut came with the film "Unishe April" (1994), which won him the National Film Award for Best Direction.
