Pierre-Auguste Renoir began painting at age 13, after his parents sent him to work with a local artist, Charles Gleyre. He quickly became a talented painter, and by the time he was 18, he had been accepted into the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Renoir went on to become one of the most famous and influential painters of the Impressionist movement.
