Peter Debye was a member of the Royal Society. He was a German-born physicist who made major contributions to the understanding of molecular structure and the behavior of materials. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1936. Debye was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1949.
