Nadia Murad was the first Yazidi to win the Nobel Prize. She won the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize for her work fighting against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and its genocide of the Yazidi people. Murad was abducted by ISIL in 2014 and held captive for three months before escaping. After her escape, she became a vocal advocate for the Yazidi people and their rights.
