Misty Copeland was considered a prodigy in ballet when she first started at 13 years old. She was able to do things that other dancers her age could not, and she was quickly noticed by the instructors at her studio. Copeland was given the opportunity to train with some of the best teachers in the world, and she eventually became a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre.
