Martin Hawke retired from playing cricket in 1911. He was a prominent Australian cricketer who played for New South Wales and Australia. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He made his Test debut in 1894 and played 44 Tests for Australia, scoring 2,323 runs and taking 115 wickets. He was a member of the Australian team that won the Ashes in 1897/98 and 1901/02.
