K. K. Downing was born in England, in 1951. He is a British guitarist and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the heavy metal band Judas Priest. Downing has been credited with helping to pioneer the sound of heavy metal music, and has been ranked by Guitar World magazine as one of the 100 greatest metal guitarists of all time.
