Jaswant Singh first became a member of parliament in 1980. He was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament, from the Barmer constituency in Rajasthan. Singh served in the Lok Sabha for several terms and held various ministerial positions in the government of India, including Minister of External Affairs and Minister of Finance.
