Answer
Johannes Hans Daniel Jensen, best known as J. Hans D. Jensen, was a German nuclear physicist who, together with Maria Goeppert-Mayer, developed the nuclear shell model that explains nuclear stability and structure based on a quantum mechanical model to determine how protons and neutrons are arranged within the nucleus. This important insight earned them the prestigious Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963.
