Ingemar Stenmark was born on March 18, 1956 in Joensuu, Finland. He is a retired alpine ski racer who won six consecutive World Cup overall titles, an Olympic gold medal, and 86 World Cup races. Stenmark is widely regarded as one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time.
