In 1970, Greg Lake, vocalist, bassist and guitarist, left King Crimson after its debut album due to musical and personal differences within the band. Lake would go on to co-found the band Emerson, Lake & Palmer. With their progressive rock sound, they released several successful albums and became one of the most influential bands of the 1970s.
