Graham Bell competed in 5 Olympic Games. He was the first Australian swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal, doing so in the 100-metre freestyle at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He also won a silver medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne.
