Göran Kropp was 35 years old when he died. He was a Swedish adventurer and author who became famous for his solo expeditions across the Arctic and Antarctic. Kropp's death in 2002 was a result of an accident during a kayaking expedition in Greenland. He was attempting to cross the Greenland ice cap when he fell into a crevasse and drowned.
