Friedrich Schlegel was a German philosopher, literary critic, and essayist who was one of the founders of German Romanticism. He was also a prominent figure in the Jena Romantic School, along with his brother August Wilhelm Schlegel and other writers and thinkers such as Novalis, Ludwig Tieck, and Wilhelm Heinrich Wackenroder.
