Jena Romanticism was a movement that took place in the German city of Jena from about 1798 to 1806. Friedrich Schlegel was one of the main figures of the movement. The other main figures were his brother August Wilhelm Schlegel, Novalis, and Friedrich Schelling. Jena Romanticism was a reaction against the Enlightenment and Neoclassicism.
