Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was a Norwegian poet, playwright, novelist and essayist. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in Norwegian literature. His works often deal with Norwegian national identity and the struggle for independence from Sweden. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1903.
