Arcadius was the older brother of Honorius. They were both the sons of the Emperor Theodosius I and Galla Placidia. Arcadius became the emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire in 395 AD and Honorius became the emperor of the Western Roman Empire. The two brothers ruled their respective empires until their deaths in 408 AD and 423 AD, respectively.
