Anita Loos is a well-known American author, journalist, screenwriter, and playwright. She is best known for her collaborations with the director and actor Douglas Fairbanks Sr., and for her 1930 novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Loos was born in 1888 in Silesia, Austria-Hungary, to a family of Russian Jews. She moved to the United States with her family when she was a child.
