Al-Hadi's reign lasted less than two years, from 169 AH (785 AD) to 170 AH (786 AD). He was the third Abbasid caliph, succeeding his father, Al-Mahdi. His brief rule was marked by several challenges, including rebellions and uprisings in various parts of the vast Abbasid empire.
